The cast of The Wire recently united at Paleyfest New York and filled us up with all sorts of nostalgia.
The panel included some of the most beloved actors from the show, such as Wendell Pierce, who played the troubled Detective William ‘Bunk’ Moreland, and Sonja John, who played Detective Shakima ‘Kima’ Greggs. Noticeably missing were Idris Elba, (Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell) and Dominic West (Detective James ‘Jimmy’ McNulty), who were present only via previously videotaped messages.
The cast spoke about the HBO series’ popularity, some behind-the-scenes rituals, as well as revealed which actor almost quit due to the program’s heavy content.
The Wire, known for showcasing life in the inner city of Baltimore, is also responsible for introducing us to some of Hollywood’s most handsome and talented actors. We have it to thank for the charming Michael B. Jordan, multi-talented Tristan Wilds and of course, the sultry Idris Elba.
