President Obama met with the Texas nurse Nina Pham, who contracted the deadly virus, this past Friday at the Oval Office in Washington, D.C. The 26-year-old nurse caught the disease while treating Thomas Eric Duncan at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Nina told CNN:

Although I no longer have Ebola, I know that it may be awhile before I have my strength back. So with gratitude and respect for everyone’s concern, I ask for my privacy and for my family’s privacy to be respected as I return to Texas and try to get back to a normal life and reunite with my dog, Bentley.

Pham was free of the deadly virus on October 24, just 12 days after it was announced she’d tested positive.

An Ebola outbreak also occurred earlier this week, in one of the most populated cities in the world – New York City. A HazMat team was sent out to decontaminate  Craig Spencer‘s apartment in Hamilton Heights. The scary thing about the whole process was that although the team was bringing out the doctor’s sealed barrels from the apartment, not one of the workers were wearing any sort of protective gear.

The men, who were sent out by Bio Recovery Corp., were not wearing any gloves, face masks or protective clothing while coming in and out of the apartment.

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, a nurse who arrived from Africa was quarantined by airport officials as part of a new policy implemented by both New York & New Jersey’s governors.

The policy enforces a quarantine upon all people returning to the U.S through area airports that are deemed “high risk,” according to ABC 7 News. Although she tested negative and did not show any symptoms, the woman later developed a fever and was put into isolation.

We are keeping all victims of this deadly virus in our prayers.
