A Chicago man who was taken to a hospital following a car crash is dead after police shot him in the emergency room, claiming he pulled out a gun.

Now, the family of Christopher Anderson, 27, are demanding answers from authorities, telling reporters that he was a “family man,” not a “troublemaker.”

“It doesn’t sound right at all,” said Gerald Anderson, Christopher Anderson’s father, who lives in Kenosha, Wis.

Anderson and his 9-year-old daughter were taken to Highland Park hospital after the car crash around 11 p.m. Sunday. The driver of the car was arrested on a DUI charge. Police say around 1:30 a.m., Anderson became aggressive toward hospital authorities. He allegedly pulled out a handgun and refused to put it down at the request of police.

An officer then shot and killed Anderson.
