J.Cole’s coming home again.
As the year begins to wind down, North Carolina rapper J.Cole announces he’ll be dropping his third studio album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which is titled after his childhood home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The 29-year-old Roc Nation emcee will not release any single off the album. Instead, he’s hoping his very loyal fan base will show love and support on release day.
In a recently released mini-doc about the album, J. Cole discusses his mind state at this point in his career.
“I’ve gotten to this point in my career and realized that, yeah I got a lot more dreams and I want to go further, but at the same time, I don’t want it if it’s at the expense of my happiness, and I don’t want it if it’s at the expense of my sanity or if I have to become someone who’s so out of touch with what’s real.”
J. Cole’s been pretty quiet this past year, but reemerged into the spotlight when he flew to Ferguson, Missouri to protest the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager who was gunned down by a Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson. While he was down there, Cole released the emotional track ,”Be Free.”
2014 Forest Hills Drive will drop on December 9, along with Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V.
Could J.Cole come through in the clutch and drop the best album in 2014? Possibly.
