She’s only 19-years-old, but it’s looking like singer/rapper Tink may be experiencing the beginning of a lengthy and fruitful career, thanks to legendary producer Timbaland.
The Virginia-based producer most notably known for championing the career of late great R&B singer Aaliyah, has discovered a new “apple of his eye,” and her name is Tink.
The Chicago songstress first burst onto the scene when she released her 2012 debut mixtape, Winter’s Diary, which she recorded in her basement. Since then, she’s released not one, but three mixtapes that not only exhibit her ability to vocalize impeccable melodies, but also her rap skills.
Yeah, so if you’re thinking “female Drake,” you’re pretty spot on.
The “Time” singer has been quoted that she looks up to Drake for being respected for executing both artistries.
Her biggest fan, Timbaland, stopped by Power 105’s The Breakfast Club to discuss his reaction to the horrifying Lifetime Aaliyah biopic produced by Wendy Williams. Of course, Timbaland discussed his “baby girl,” Aaliyah, but he also took the time to introduce Tink to mainstream America by playing the original version of Rick Ross’s “Movin’ Bass.”
The Hood Billionaire track was initially supposed to feature Tink, but the Maybach Music CEO decided to go a different route, keeping only his verse along with Jay Z’s hook contribution.
After hearing the song, everyone can agree that Tink’s version of the song goes way harder than the album version, but what’s done is done.
But don’t worry. You’ll be hearing more from Tink.
She is currently readying her major debut project, which will drop in 2015.
