UPDATE 11/25 12:05 P.M. The family of Michael Brown is set to speak at a press conference momentarily.

The grand jury announcement of no indictment for Officer Darren Wilson caused the people of Ferguson to protest and riot, resulting in 61 arrests following the decision Monday evening.

Protestors took to the streets after St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney, Robert McCulloch, released the official news that Officer Darren Wilson will not be charged for the murder of unarmed teen Michael Brown:

People were arrested on charges ranging from unlawful assembly to arson and burglary during a night when angry crowds set fires to buildings and cars and looted businesses, while police responded with tear gas and flash-bang canisters.

While some responded to the news, Michael Brown’s family asked for peace. Several photos were shared all over social media, including this touching moment:

Volunteers took to the streets to help clean up the mess from last night, while others started to question why the decision was released in the evening.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon spoke out on the reasoning and placed it completely on Robert McCulloch. Critics, including CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin and Paul Callan, called the move dangerous and bizarre:

“I find this a completely bizarre decision to do this at night,” Toobin said. “Here’s the thing about that time of night: it’s dark. Anyone — anyone! — should have known that the decision in the Brown case would have been controversial. Crowd control is always more difficult in the dark.”

Callan noted the announcement was supposed to be made at 8 p.m. EST, but was rescheduled for 9 p.m. EST:

“Why would you be moving it another hour? I think the only reason can be that they don’t have their security forces in place,” he said.

It was previously reported that police were given a 48-hour heads up on the decision to make sure they were correctly in place. The decision was initially made Monday afternoon. McCulloch has yet to explain why he released the news in the evening.

As many continue to speak out on the the grand jury’s decision, cartoonist Kevin Eason perfectly illustrated the outcry of the people:
