An undercover police officer who had been marching amongst protesters in Oakland pointed his gun at several other demonstrators after being “outed” on Wednesday night.
According to KTVU, two California Highway Patrol cops marched with over 200 protesters from University of California, Berkeley’s campus to honor Eric Garner and Michael Brown. After members of the group correctly identified them as undercover, a white protester pulled off one of the officer’s bandanas, while the officer grabbed a black man and tackled him to the ground. Another pointed his gun towards photographers and protesters.
The two CHP officers started to walk away, but the protesters persisted, screaming at the two undercover cops. One of the officers pushed a protester aside. The man responded by pushing back and then the officer tackled him to the ground, handcuffing him.
The crowd, incensed, began to gather around them. The second officer pulled out his gun and pointed it at the crowd. More officers quickly arrived and dispersed the crowd.
“I’m a white man, and I pulled off (the officer’s) mask, but they punched a black man,” Dylan said. “He got arrested.”
Witness accounts also claim the officers encouraged looting while marching with the crowd. And furthermore, they didn’t have any probable cause to arrest the protester.

The officers have yet to be identified, but police confirmed the men were not Oakland police officers, but were assigned to the California Highway Patrol.
