Tom Brady could be your favorite player in the NFL – or he could be your absolute most hated. The New England Patriots quarterback is admittedly annoying to a non-Pats fan; he’s a little too wholesome, married to one of the hottest women on the planet, and radiates a type of optimism and assuredly healthy expectation of success only ridiculously good-looking people possess.

All of this is to say that this year, Tom Brady became human. He finally started to open up to his fans, showing off his silly side and propensity for making fun of himself that is refreshing in a man of his stature and tax bracket. Maybe it’s his growing family, his age (at 37, he’s getting up there in football years), or the fact that his team got their asses handed to them by the Kansas City Chiefs during Week 4 and the media decided the Brady/Bill Belichick dynasty was over, but Mr. Gisele Bundchen is more accessible than ever before.

Take a look at Brady’s funniest and most down-to-earth social media moments from 2014 below. (*cough* Go Pats! *cough*)

Tom and Gisele started giving us all a glimpse into their idyllic family life with kids Benjamin, Vivian, and Tom’s son from a previous relationship, John. Whether it was letting the children crawl all over him, or reposting an adorable shot of his daughter cheering his team on, every domestic flick made us want more. Including this shot of Gisele and Tom celebrating a Pats win. Can we get in on this?

His throwbacks are hilarious. Who doesn’t love seeing someone like Brady make fun of himself? In October, Tom wished the Boston Celtics luck on their upcoming season by sharing the below school pic of himself – Photoshopped, of course.

And then, there’s this…

What a nerd.

A few weeks ago, the future Hall of Famer even posted his resume – you know, back before he became one of the all-time football greats, he wasn’t sure who the heck was gonna hire him. He probably would have turned out to be a finance bro.

Then there was the time he rode Space Mountain and looked really intense about it:

Or his throwback Halloween costume? And this is actually terrifying:

Everyone generally makes fun of Brady’s Ugg endorsement, so you know, he just posted a pic hanging out amidst his total shoe haul. And we got jealous:

Then he Facebooked a silly photo of himself, teammates Rob Gronkowski and Vince Wilfork’s heads superimposed on a Singin’ in the Rain poster ahead of an inclement game day. We can’t.

And before the Pats took on the Chicago Bears, there was this:

He’s making a cameo in Boston-based comedy Ted 2 as well, and actually let us in on the secret, posing with Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane:

Next came his cursing debacle. Yes, Brady can get heated when things aren’t going his way. The FCC received three (yes, three) complaints about Tom’s fucks being aired on TV. Like this:

And this:

And then someone made this gif:

Tom had the best answer ever for those complaining about his language:

“I wish I did have a better mouth out there at times,” he said on WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan” show, “but there’s nothing that quite expresses the way I feel like that word. It is, it is [a great word], especially in the heat of the moment. … Blame CBS and NBC for putting it on TV. Don’t blame me. … We’re not choirboys, I know that. You bring us up to a certain level of intensity to the game, you’re job is to go out there and physically, emotionally, mentally dominate the game. You don’t do that at church on Sunday. You’ve got to go to the football field for that.”

Just a few years ago, Brady wouldn’t have even answered the question. He also wouldn’t have made fun of his sprinting skills on the internet. Last week Brady, who is a notorious stand-still quarterback, ran for 17 yards to get a first down and avoid a sack. His interpretation? This:

And who says Peyton Manning gets to do all the funny commercials? Tom’s got jokes too.

But most of all, he has a soft side, including tandem biking with disabled children:

So thanks Tom for opening up on social media and helping us realize that not only are you spectacular at football, but you’re funny, kind, and a good dad as well.

Here’s to more tomfoolery (you see what we did there) in 2015.
