Despite how many feel about the Ferguson Police Department after all that’s happened, at least they are finally stepping up and recognizing their officers’ bad habits.

A policeman from the department recently came under fire after he made comments about the memorial for 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by Officer Darren Wilson in August. ICYMI, Officer Timothy Zoll called the memorial a “pile of trash.”

According to STL Today, the city previously claimed that Officer Zoll had been misquoted, but he has now been placed on unpaid leave after further investigation into his crude comment.

The leave is effective immediately and disciplinary proceedings have begun, since Zoll admitted to misleading his superiors in regard to the interview that quotes him.

The city’s officials also made a statement claiming that the remarks of the officer do not reflect the feelings of the town’s police department.

Change… slowly, but surely.
