Joey Bada$$ is starting 2015 with a bang.
The Brooklyn rapper was stopped by security before he was set to take the stage for a show in Australia this past Friday, and as his credentials were being checked, he reportedly punched the guard in the face.
According to the Australian Broadcasting Association, Joey broke the security guard’s nose. As soon as he stepped off stage, the 19-year-old artist was arrested for assault.

The rapper was arrested by police after the show finished and taken to Byron Bay police station, where he spent the night in custody.
Bada$$, whose real name is Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He appeared in Lismore Local Court on Saturday and was granted bail.
He was ordered to face court again on March 19.
Meanwhile, Joey got a distraction from his legal issues in the Land Down Under, as a photo of President Obama’s daughter Malia Obama wearing a t-shirt from his hip-hop collective Pro Era went viral. Looks like he’s got one of America’s sweethearts as a fan.
