A 9-year-old boy is currently in the hospital after an older man followed him on his way to school, and stabbed him three times before he was able to escape.

Jermaine Colver was walking down the snowy sidewalks in Staten Island, when an elderly unidentified man started following him and caught up to him.

According to the NY Daily News, surveillance footage shows the man attacking Colver at around 7:55 A.M., stabbing him three times before he fled the scene. Colver then went back home and told his family what happened.

The site reports:

The footage reveals the psycho trailed Jermaine down the block before pouncing, grabbing him around the neck with his left hand and stabbing him in the upper shoulder and neck.

Jermaine stumbled a few steps before regaining his footing and sprinting away.

He ran to his nearby home and told his 14-year-old brother what happened. The two boys returned to the scene to try to find the brute.

Fortunately, the wounds weren’t life-threatening, and he spent the night in the hospital. His family is hoping he will be able to come home soon.

We are praying for little Jermaine.
