A 22-year-old woman was seen on the side of a road in New Jersey, burning her newborn daughter alive.
According to the NY Daily News, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier was spotted by her neighbor David Joseph, burning what he believed to be trash.
The site reports that Dorvilier claimed she was burning dog waste, but it turned out to be her newborn, who she took out of her car, put on the ground, poured flammable liquid on, and then burned.
Joseph told the press about the incident:
“It was just horrible. Like nothing you’ve ever seen.”
“We saw the fire and we thought someone was over there burning trash.”
David Joseph was able to restrain Dorvilier until authorities arrived on the scene, and a makeshift memorial was put up at the scene following the newborn’s death.
The mother is being held on $500,000 bail. We will keep the family in our prayers.
