Good news for all you Empire fans, the hit show has already been renewed for a second season.
Though it’s only aired two episodes, the series, which stars our favorite girl Taraji P. Henson and the man Terrence Howard, got the green light from FOX execs. Entertainment Weekly reports:
The move is partly surprising (in that it’s very unusual for a broadcaster to renew a series so fast, though it occasionally happens on cable) and yet not given the show’s stunning ratings this week. Empire‘s premiere episode tied How to Get Away with Murder as the season’s highest-rated series debut among adults 18-49. The second episode then stunned the industry by rising in the ratings — which is a very rare occurrence, especially after a strong debut (Empire is the only drama to rise in Week 2 this season).
The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore debuted last night on Comedy Central and it was one for the books. The satire news show, which took over Stephen Colbert‘s old studio, featured Talib Kweli, Senator Cory Booker, and comedian Bill Burr as panelists.
With a panel filled with comedians, things naturally got hairy. In a segment called “Keeping it 100,” Larry asked Bill Burr whether he would want his child to be black or white. The “Let it Go” connoisseur, in the spirit of keeping it one hundred, answered that he would want his child to be white. Oddly enough, Bill’s wife is black. For his honesty, Bill earned a “I keep it 100” sticker, and the jokes continued.

The Walking Dead is getting a prequel, and we might even get to see some of our old favorite characters.
Robert Kirkman, the show’s creator, recently expressed his regrets on killing off Edwin Jenner, played by Noah Emmerich, and even stated that he would redo last season’s epic finale if he had the chance. According to the Hollywood Reporter:
The comics creator and exec producer on AMC’s adaptation previously told THR that, in retrospect, he “wouldn’t have done the CDC episode” that featured Jenner’s big reveal to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) that everyone is infected. (The season one finale also marked the end of the road for Jenner, who opted to go up in flames with the CDC.)
It seems as though Robert is not the only one willing to bring the beloved doctor back to life. When asked if he would play Edwin Emmerich in the show’s prequel, Noah did not hesitate in saying yes.
“Sure, I think he’s a fascinating character,” Emmerich told THR at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour where he was supporting the FX drama. “There’s definitely a lot more to find out about Dr. Jenner. I have no idea, I haven’t talked with them about anything. I don’t know [if he could come back]. I have no idea, but it’s an interesting question.”
American Sniper turned out to be the gift that keeps on giving for Bradley Cooper. Not only did the film earn a whopping six Oscar nominations, but it has also proven to be box office gold.
The biopic, based on the life of deceased veteran Chris Kyle, racked in a whopping $89 million during its opening weekend. The Clint Eastwood directed flick also stars Sienna Miller and Cory Hardrict.
