Now I normally don’t do write ups on remixed tracks. Especially on songs that are 10+ yrs in circulation. That said, with the recent buzz on the Dipset reunion taking place in hip hop, and especially with ‘reheated’ beef with Jay Z, it’s only right to pay homage to perhaps the most rotated record hip hop this week, the Dipset “Victory” freestyle. Big shout to Cam, Juelz, Zeke and Jimmy.
Anybody that’s West Indian will understand when I say it’s good to see Mavado and Future rocking together on the same track. That’s Jamaica and Haiti together; Tivoli Gardens and Zoe Pound Gangsters moving in the same direction. The track “I Ain’t Going Back Broke” is theme music for the streets and inspiration for all those struggling to eat! TURN UP!
That kid Jeremih is a household name these days. All it takes is a hit record to remind everyone who forgot about your talent. His smash “Don’t Tell Em” became a cult club smash world wide. Next up from the Chi Town crooner is another heater called “Planes” featuring J. Cole. While this won’t hit the heights of ‘DTE’, still Planes has cruising altitude potential.
Say word, there’s a new single floating around with Plies name on it? That’s what the WORD is. Fresh off the milk carton, from the ‘Missing In Action’ section, Plies returns with ATL’s K Camp with a new something for the ladies called “Find You.” It kind of reminds me of his 2007 anthem Shawty which featured T Pain. This has potential. Let’s see as the months slowly warm up….
2014 was a big year for rapper/producer extraordinaire Sonny Digital. From introducing the world to semi-hot but swagged out ILoveMakonnen and making hit records with your favorite rappers rapper. SD drops some new ish for ya this week with his Pittsburgh brethren Chevy Woods. It’s called “Everything.”
