Boko Haram gunmen launched an attack Sunday on the Nigerian city of Maiduguri, engaging government troops in a fierce fight, officials say. “Our soldiers initially repelled the terrorists but they mobilized more fighters and came back in full force. They overwhelmed our troops and forced them to retreat,” said a Nigerian military officer, who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media. A former Home Depot worker and a supervisor are dead after a murder-suicide at the Chelsea location in New York. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon, when the unidentified 31-year-old man entered the store and shot his manager, before turning the gun on himself. The manager was taken to Bellevue Hospital and pronounced dead. Reports claim the employee was fired and acted out in revenge. [Huff Post]

A former Fox employee took his own life outside of the network’s headquarters in New York Monday morning. Phillip Perea, 41 of Irving, Texas shot himself in the chest around 9 a.m. after handing out flyers claiming the network ruined his career.
