We’re thinking his campaign slogan would be “staying tru to you.”

G.O.O.D Music affiliate 2 Chainz caught the attention of folks everywhere when he battled Nancy Grace over pot legalization on HLN. Now, the rapper is looking to take over several more issues, as he plans to run for mayor of his hometown.

The Georgia native expressed interest in running for mayor of College Park during a recent interview with XXL. While speaking about some of his endeavors outside the rap game, the 37-year-old revealed his plans.

“I’m supposed to be running for mayor in College Park,” he told XXL magazine. “I got everybody wishing. I’m really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park. I’m just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications.”

“I am looking forward to running at the end of this year or next year,” the rapper confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Unfortunately, 2 Chainz no longer lives in his hometown, which could cause a big problem. His other quarrel would have to be Jack Longino, the city’s current mayor. Longino has held down his mayoral status in the town of 14,000 since 1996. While talking to reporters, he said he isn’t a fan of Tity Boi, but is curious to see if he has what it takes to run against him.

He said if 2 Chainz “actually lives in College Park and wants to run and signs up, we’ll let the people decide.” The incumbent mayor told The Daily Beast that, “I will continue to stand on my record and what I’ve accomplished in College Park” and bragged that Google announced today that his town would be the latest city to get Google Fiber.

The mayor also told The Daily Beast that he hadn’t heard of 2 Chainz until the rapper floated his potential candidacy. “I didn’t know who he was, but I’m not a big rapper,” Longino said.  “I’m a country-western guy. I don’t listen to the rap.”

Aside from his wishes to legalize pot, Chainz also supports voter rights for ex-felons, taking on the war on drugs, and balancing the budget. The Alabama State alumni has also given back to his community by donating bikes and canned goods to children and families in need.

If the mayoral race doesn’t work out, 2 Chainz can find other ways to break into politics, like taking a role as a councilman or city manager. But we’re hoping for “2 TERMS!”
