The saga continues.

After using the n-word multiple times during his Paris Fashion Week show this week, A.P.C. founder Jean Touitou has been at the receiving end of criticism. While introducing the brand’s collaboration with Timberland, the designer held up a sign that read “LAST Ni##@$ IN PARIS,” and explained that the collaboration line was “the hood meets Bertolucci’s movie Last Tango In Paris.”

Needless to say, many in the audience were left quite uncomfortable following his remarks, which led Touitou to issue a statement defending himself. Touitou referred to his creative relationship with Kanye West and West’s approval of the line’s vision as proof that he meant no ill-will. However, his statement did nothing to salvage the relationship between A.P.C. and Timberland, who cut all ties with the brand following the controversy.

Now, Touitou has released an apology to GQ:

“When describing our brand’s latest collaboration, I spoke recklessly using terms that were both ignorant and offensive. I apologize and am deeply regretful for my poor choice of words, which are in no way a reflection of my personal views.”

What do you think of the apology? Will he and A.P.C. be able to overcome the controversy?
