Infamous rap music mogul and former Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight may have used up his nine lives, if his latest run-in with the law is any indication.

Knight was arrested early Friday on suspicion of murder after he allegedly ran over two men, killing one, with his truck in Compton, California. The 49-year-old, attorney by his side, was interviewed by homicide detectives after turning himself in as a person of interest in the hit-and-run case at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood, authorities said.

He is currently being held on $2 million bail.

Here’s what we know about Knight’s latest situation so far:

  • Knight’s attorney, James E. Blatt, said that the rap mogul was behind the wheel during the incident, which killed a 55-year-old man and injured a 51-year-old man.
  • Knight and Blatt maintain he was attacked by the two men and while driving away, fatally hit the men with his vehicle.
  • Witnesses identified the vehicle as a red Ford F-150 Raptor, similar to Knight’s own truck.
  • The confrontation between the men began Thursday afternoon on the set of the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton. According to Capt. John Corina of the Sheriff’s Department’s detectives unit, Knight followed the two men to a burger restaurant, where he is believed to have run them over in the parking lot.
  • Witnesses say the truck struck the men and then backed over them before fleeing.
  • One of the victims was a member of the film crew.
  • TMZ is also reporting that one of the victims is a friend of Knight’s : “The victim is Terry Certer, who we’re told is a friend of Suge’s who arrived with him at the scene — he works at a local tow truck company in Compton — and witnesses say he’s “an OG in the neighborhood.”
  • Police however, have not released the name of the two men involved in the hit-and-run

This is just one of many legal troubles in Knight’s storied past. In addition to being the driver of the BMW Tupac Shakur was gunned down in nearly 20 years ago, he’s also been the subject of a number of brow-raising incidents over the past two decades.

From the LA Times:

In 1997, Knight was sentenced to nine years in prison for violating the terms of his probation from an earlier assault case. He was released from prison in 2001 but was sent back to jail two years later for violating parole when he hit a parking lot attendant.

In 2006, Knight filed for bankruptcy. He put his Malibu mansion up for sale the following year. In 2008, he was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of drug possession and aggravated assault. The next year, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery.

Knight was also injured in a shooting at a pre-MTV Video Music Awards party last August.
