Legendary R&B singer Charlie Wilson has been blessing generations of soul lovers with his voice for over 35 years, and there’s nothing much that can stop him. Not even homelessness.

In an effort to promote his seventh solo album Forever Charlie, the 62-year-old singer stopped by GlobalGrind’s offices to discuss his latest project and the past four decades in music.

During our time together, Charlie revealed Snoop Dogg was the first artist in hip-hop to reach out to him for a feature in the late ’90s. Uncle Charlie also revealed how Atlanta rapper Jeezy missed a studio session with him, which opened up an opportunity for Kanye West.

And of course he discusses “Bound 2,” meeting Kanye’s entire family, and recording solo versions of all his hip-hop collaborations.
