D.C. native/L.A.-based singer Kelela has announced her new six song EP Hallucinogen and released an innovative new video for the project’s first offering, “The Message.”
It’s been 16 months since Kelela released her debut mixtape Cut 4 Me, which received favorable reviews. In a written explanation, Kelela revealed her forthcoming EP Hallucinogen will take people “on a journey through lust, longing, delirium, and ecstasy.”
Meanwhile, her Daniel Sannwald-directed “The Message” is described as “the stage that comes before lust, the darker realization of love; the rejection and amputation.” Kelela symbolizes this description by cutting off her locs in the thought-provoking music video.
