Angelina Jolie is one phenomenal woman.

The mother of six continues to be an inspiration and beacon of hope for many women who are suffering from the plague that is cancer.

In a New York Times article titled “Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of A Surgery,” Brad Pitt’s better half opens up about the process of electing to remove her ovaries after test results showed she was prone to ovarian cancer. Angie, who was also candid about her double mastectomy back in 2013, lost her mother, grandmother, and aunt to the disease.

Though she planned to have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as a preventive measure, the surgery still came as a shock. She reveals:

I had been planning this for some time. It is a less complex surgery than the mastectomy, but its effects are more severe. It puts a woman into forced menopause. So I was readying myself physically and emotionally, discussing options with doctors, researching alternative medicine, and mapping my hormones for estrogen or progesterone replacement. But I felt I still had months to make the date.

Then two weeks ago I got a call from my doctor with blood-test results. “Your CA-125 is normal,” he said. I breathed a sigh of relief. That test measures the amount of the protein CA-125 in the blood, and is used to monitor ovarian cancer. I have it every year because of my family history.

But that wasn’t all. He went on. “There are a number of inflammatory markers that are elevated, and taken together they could be a sign of early cancer.” I took a pause. “CA-125 has a 50 to 75 percent chance of missing ovarian cancer at early stages,” he said. He wanted me to see the surgeon immediately to check my ovaries.

To remove her ovaries, Angie underwent a procedure called laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. What it means is that she can no longer have children and is in forced menopause. Though the situation is dire, the philanthropic actress is still looking at the silver lining:

It is not possible to remove all risk, and the fact is I remain prone to cancer. I will look for natural ways to strengthen my immune system. I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, “Mom died of ovarian cancer,”…I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared.

Hats off to Mrs. Pitt for having the courage to speak out. Read the full poignant article here.

Tom Hanks has a long resume and aside from the classics such as Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, and Cast Away, it is simply difficult to keep up with all his films.

Well, fret not, because thanks to new late night host James Corden, the actor was able to shoot a simple 8-minute clip summarizing all his movies. From Turner & Hooch to Philadelphia, all the way to The Da Vinci Code, no movie was left out.

The debate over female gamers is finally getting its day in the limelight.

The trailer for GTFO premiered at SXSW and it brings the argument to the forefront by showcasing women who play video games. They speak about the fact that their male counterparts are unwelcoming of the growing population of women in the industry–one woman received harrowing images, one was verbally abused, and it got so violent, another woman’s children were threatened.

The film is currently making its rounds at festivals. Watch the trailer above.

If you happen to be a fan of Jimmy Kimmel Lives Guillermo and Brisk Ice Tea, well, your dreams just came true.

In a new commercial for the beverage, Jimmy’s sidekick makes it a point to poke some fun at the lines during SXSW and decides to have a party in the back of the queue. There’s a game of limbo and the Brisk Ice Tea shark also makes an appearance.
