Taraji P. Henson recently made claims that her son was a victim of racial profiling, but it turns out that wasn’t the case at all.

After a video showing the interaction between her son and the officer who stopped him surfaced, the Empire actress is now publicly apologizing for saying that he had been racially profiled by California police.

Buzzfeed reports:

The video, obtained by the Los Angeles Times, showed Marcel Henson driving through a lighted crosswalk as a person crosses, prompting the officer to initiate the traffic stop.

During the Oct. 18, 2014, incident, the officer can be heard asking Marcel if he has anything illegal in the car. Marcel responds, telling the officer there is marijuana inside his backpack, which he claims he has a medical marijuana license to use, but cannot find.

The officer then says:

“I appreciate you being honest with me about the weed,” the officer says. “I do appreciate that because I do smell weed, so thank you for being honest about that.”

Henson also confessed that he had Ritalin in his possession, though the ADHD medication was not prescribed to him. Still, the officer only gave Marcel a citation for “possession of marijuana” before confiscating the weed.
