On Monday morning, thousands of family, friends, and supporters attended the funeral of Freddie Gray, a Baltimore resident who joins many other young colored victims of police brutality.

Gray, 25, died after suffering a spinal injury during an arrest at the hands of Baltimore police two weeks ago. His death brought support from other families who have lost loved ones to law enforcement brutality, including the relatives of Eric Garner, Amadou Diallo, and Alberta Spruill, a Harlem woman who died during a botched raid.

Other funeral guests include Cabinet Secretary Broderick Johnson, chair of the Obama administration’s My Brother’s Keeper Task Force; Heather Foster, an adviser in the White House Office of Public Engagement; and Elias Alcantara from the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Thousands of protesters marched in Baltimore on Saturday, after police admitted they should have given Gray medical treatment in a proper manner before his death.
