It’s time for one last victory lap for Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Seacrest and the rest of the gang, as American Idol is being canceled after its 15th season next year. Fox decided to pull the show after ratings – which went from over 20 million in 2003 to 9 million last year – started to slump.

Host Ryan Seacrest issued a statement:

“American Idol has been a big part of my life for so long, it’s frankly hard to imagine it without it,” Ryan said. “It’s been a remarkable journey, and I feel very fortunate to have been part of a show that made television history in countless ways. It’s a show about chasing and fulfilling dreams, and truth be told, it helped some of my own dreams come true too.”

RIP AI.

Empire is such a hit, Fox has decided to give us a lot more in season two. The network has ordered 18 episodes this season.

THR reports:

A notable increase from the musical series’ 12-episode first season, the order is still a far cry from the conventional 22-episode broadcast series season. Considering Empire‘s massive ratings growth over the first season – the primetime soap pulled in a 6.5 rating among adults 18-49 and nearly 17 million viewers – it only makes sense for Fox to try to get as many new episodes as it can.

Creator Lee Daniels was vocal about keeping Empire down to 12 episodes like it was during season one, but it looks like when the money talks, people listen.

It’s not all bad news for Tyga. While he’s dealing with baby mama drama at home, he’s booking deals and roles in Hollywood. The Fan of A Fan rapper will be in Barbershop 3.

BlackFilm broke the story, reporting that he’s the third rapper to join the cast after Nicki Minaj and Eve. The movie has already begun filming in Atlanta.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron opened up a can of whoop ass at the box office this weekend, putting up over $77 million in its second week in theaters. Hot Pursuit opened up at number 2 with $13 million, $5 million lower than it was estimated to make. For more box office news, click here.

Last night’s episode of Game of Thrones was great as usual. We got to see a glimpse into Sansa’s new reality as she faces yet another marriage, but this time to the son of the man who helped kill her mother and brother. We also got to meet the Stonemen, see the dragons eat a slave master, and much more. Take a look inside the episode above.
