Selma director Ava DuVernay recently decided not to direct Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther movie starring Chadwick Boseman. Though that wasn’t always the case, she made her reasoning loud and clear during a keynote speech at the BlogHer conference this past weekend, stating “it really wasn’t going to be an Ava DuVernay film.”

DuVernay decided the project, which would take up to three years of her time and energy, simply wasn’t the right move for her. She told the audience, “What my name is on means something to me” and shared her plans to continue “illuminating the magnificence of the lives of Black people” through film.

Here’s the good news – The Goonies sequel is going to happen. With that said, director Chris Columbus is in no rush to get the movie on the big screen. Columbus explained that Goonies 2 presents a number of challenges that don’t necessarily pertain to all sequels. In the case of The Goonies, the cast has aged quite a few years, forcing Columbus to find new actors that can match the original cast’s talent.

He said:

“The Goonies have aged 30 years, so there was a magic about that particular cast. How do you make it work now? That’s a difficult challenge.”

Well, Hank Baskett finally “connected the dots” for wife Kendra Wilkinson, confessing the truth about his alleged infidelity with a transgender model on camera during Friday, July 17’s episode of WeTV’s Marriage Boot Camp. The clip shows Baskett in tears, sobbing as he explains what “really” happened that day.

Kendra is sticking by her husband, at least for now. Following the interview, she defended him in a very sentimental Instagram post.

Kendra wrote:

“This is the love of my life…A true man. I believe in forgiveness and I believe in him. I take my vows very serious and won’t let people’s beliefs get in my way of what I know.”

Paula Jai Parker is booked on season two of Hollywood Divas, and booked in the scripted Hollywood World. In an interview with Mara The Hip Hop Socialite, the 45-year-old actor said she actually prefers working on both big and small screens, and has no problem taking the reigns on what other actors might consider “leftover” work.

Parker also shared her excitement about the leading actors in Hollywood World being of color, stating:

“I think they’re buying into it because they think it’s the trendy thing to do, but we know what we want to see. And the beauty of a show like ‘Empire’ doing so well, and the fact that they are calling it ‘Hustle & Flow’ point two has brought down this whole trickle effect on the rest of us.”

Preach, Parker. Preach.
