David Beckham is nothing but smiles in the photo above, but was not so nice when addressing The Daily Mail‘s bad parenting accusations on Monday. The UK tabloid recently published a story on Beckham and his wife Victoria, releasing a photo of their 4-year-old daughter Harper still using a pacifier.
The tabloid wrote:
“Harper Beckham is well beyond the age that most health experts would advise giving a child a dummy… Parenting experts said David and Victoria risked stunting their daughter’s speech and were putting her teeth at risk of damage by letting her continue to use one.”
Beckham was quick to defend himself and his wife on Instagram yesterday, explaining that Harper was sick when the photo was taken and that she does not normally use a pacifier. He wrote, “everybody who has children knows that when they aren’t feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it’s a pacifier.” It’s no shock that the 40-year-old athlete and father felt obligated to defend his parenting decisions, but we must admit… Harper’s a little too big to be sucking on plastic in public.
