For those living in low-income neighborhoods, healthy food options are hard to come by. Instead, fast-food chains and liquor stores are plentiful. Styles P and Jadakiss are doing their part to change that.

Earlier this month, the LOX rappers announced their plan to launch Juices For Life, a chain of juice bars that will bring healthy drink options to the hood. In an interview with Elite Daily, Styles P discussed the importance of their latest business venture:

“In the poorer communities, mostly, the money gets invested in liquor stores and the kind of things we don’t need.”

But, as Jadakiss explained, Juices For Life is about much more than just business:

“Growing up in Yonkers, New York, we didn’t know what was good for us … and that’s exactly what we’re trying to give to our community.”

The chain will open three locations, with at least one in Yonkers. Another celebrity who’s promoted clean and healthy eating, Russell Simmons, praised the rappers for their “amazing new business.”

Styles P also made an appearance on The Doctors to promote the chain and its nutritious juices, saying:

“Coming up in the hood, I had a bad temper. I found myself in trouble, catching cases, incarceration. I started thinking, ‘maybe it’s the food I’m putting in my body.'”
