In the wake of the devastating terrorist attacks in Paris, the world continues to mourn. But some are using the tragedy to do more harm than good.

A British salon owner has been arrested for a series of Facebook posts in which she announced her plan to refuse service to Muslims. In the offensive postings, April Major writes that her fake eyelash salon, Blinks of Bicester, will no longer book “Muslim or Islamic” clients, saying: “Sorry but time to put my country first,” Jezebel reports.

Not surprisingly, news of the posts began to circulate on social media and users retaliated. This time, with fake reviews for the business.

Feeling the backlash, Major followed up with a second post, writing: I have been inundated with messages tonight as I said I would not book any muslin [sic] or Islamic client. I stand by that completely as a UK citizen. However those that want to call me a racialist. Think on.

As a result, the Thames Valley Police arrested and detained Major for “stirring up racial hatred.” Their full statement reads: “We have arrested a 43-year-old woman in Bicester today after a number of complaints about a racially abusive post on social media. The woman was arrested under section 19 of the Public Order Act which relates to the display of written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting with the intention of stirring up racial hatred, and for producing malicious communications.”

Blinks of Bicester’s Facebook page has since been deleted.
