There’s no denying that music correlates with sports. Rappers tend to want to be ballers and NBA stars also venture out into hip-hop. NBA Clippers Center DeAndre Jordan relies on music a lot when he’s warming up and working out.

Global Grind caught up with the 27-year-old player at the 2015 American Music Awards red carpet on Sunday, Nov. 22, and he shared his surprising musical favorites. Jordan says he listens to a lot of Future and that he’s been a fan of his for years.

“I’m a big Future fan. Yeah huge Future fan, old Future fan,” he explained. “Just to see his success rise has been really cool to see.”

Trap music isn’t the only thing that gets him charged up before a game. English-Irish pop boy band One Direction is also under the most-played music category for Jordan.

“I like One Direction. Not a lot of people know that about me but I’m a big fan, so I’m excited to see those guys tonight,” he said.

The NBA star was happy and excited to be at the show despite his team’s loss to the Toronto Raptors in a game held at the Staples Center just moments before the award show. In addition to Future and One Direction, Jordan told us he also listens to Drake, Jay Z, and 2 Pac.

Coming in just under 7 feet at 6’11, it was no shock to us that the Houston native has a love for food. He was especially excited when discussing his Thanksgiving dinner must haves with us. In addition to that, he informed us of a guilty pleasure of his, which just so happens to be food related.

“I like to stay up late and watch TV and eat French fries. I probably shouldn’t say that, but yeah,” said Jordan.
