An officer in DeKalb County in the state of Georgia has been indicted on murder charges connected with a 2015 shooting. DeKalb County Officer Robert Olsen shot and killed Air Force veteran Anthony Hill in March of that year, who was reportedly naked and unarmed at the time of the shooting.

The grand jury overseeing the matter issued a six-count indictment, marking all counts given to the panel by the offices of DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James. The charges in full are two counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of making a false statement and two counts of violation of oath by a public officer reports local news outlet 11Alive.

11Alive reports:

“My job is to uphold the laws of Georgia and prosecute anyone who violates them. This case is no exception,” James said. “The facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Anthony Hill warranted felony murder charges.”

James said a warrant had been sworn out for Olsen’s arrest.

The decision came down after the Grand Jury heard evidence against the officer Thursday.

As learned from earlier reports, officers responded to 911 calls from the apartment complex where Hill lived and allegedly found him naked and running through the complex. Police accounts stated that Hill charged at them, which eyewitnesses of the shooting said was untrue. The family contended in a pending civil lawsuit that Hill was having a “nonviolent mental episode” and posed no threat to anyone.

According to Hill’s family, the slain man served in Afghanistan and was dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

By way of a New York Times report, Hill’s mother said was she was “speechless” and “glad” that the jury saw the case in their favor as she emerged from the courthouse.
