The television personality is taking her entrepreneurial skills and turning them into a lifestyle brand that caters to the everyday woman who enjoys spoiling herself – aka, basically every girl you know.
The mother of three recently launched Malaysia Pargo Bedding, her own line of affordable luxury bedding.
The collection features glamorous designs like chinchilla and leather spreads fit for a queen.
I caught up with Malaysia to talk skin care and beauty tips, how she learned to perfect her contour, and of course, her luxurious bedding line.
Your skin always looks so bomb. What does your current skin care routine consist of?
I fell in love with the Clarisonic. I use it twice a day, and it makes my skin feel like a baby’s butt after I finish. The products I use along with it are Cetaphil face wash and lotion. It works amazing.
Cetaphil is great because it’s not that harsh. It works well with sensitive skin.
It works so well and it gets you so clean. Not like other cleansers that leave residue behind, especially when you’re removing your makeup. I’ve also been loving Dr. Murad’s spot treatment. When that time of the month rolls by, I use it and the flare ups will go away in two days, and it doesn’t leave you with any marks.
Do you usually apply that before bed?
Yes, with a moisturizer. I usually apply moisturizer throughout the whole day as well, that’s the best way to keep the elasticity in your skin.
Now I know you usually have your makeup professionally done. What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten from a makeup artist?
I haven’t really gotten any good advice because I’m nosey and I make them do my makeup in front of a mirror. So I guess they don’t have to give me advice because I’m always watching, and that’s how I usually pick up tips and mimic it. Even when I see my makeup artist use a new product, if I like it, I’ll go out and buy it. I’m a product person, so if I see something I like, I have no problem investing in it.
How do you usually apply your own makeup?
I usually skip out on the foundation. I just go for this highlighter and contour kit from Cover FX. It’s easier for me, the whole foundation routine is too much for my skin. For a base, I like to stick to my natural skin tone.
That’s so amazing, so no primers or setting powders?
No. Lately I’ve just been using the Cover FX, but I’ll add a setting spray to make sure it’ll stay in place. I think the one I use is a mattifier by NYX.
You have such beautiful skin you can get away with it!
I honestly think everyone can if you use the right products!
Which makeup application have you perfected?
I would have to say I’m a pro at contouring. I know my face and I know what I want to look like. Sometimes I’ll use a cream with a powder contour combined, or I’ll just go for one depending on my mood.
It’s crazy what a difference contouring makes.
I know. Sometimes If I don’t contour I’ll look in the mirror and think “did I gain weight?”
Are you a bold lip girl or do you usually go for a nude lip?
If I’m going with a bold, it would be red. Something about red lips, especially when I have black hair, I think it looks amazing. I use Cherry liner from MAC, with a Ruby Woo lipstick also from MAC. I also love this Imperial Purple lipstick from Studio 84 and I combine it with Anastasia Beverly Hills’ liquid lipstick on top. Whenever I’m doing a regular natural look, I’ll just throw on some lip gloss.
Let’s say you only have 10 minutes to get ready, what are you putting on your face?
Concealer. That’s why I love my Cover FX kit. The concealer and bronzer in the palette is usually what I go for. And I apply it using an angled brush, so quick and amazing.
Which products are your holy grail items?
Definitely my Cover FX, individual lashes, and mineral studio finish powder from MAC. I don’t like a cakey makeup application, I want to still be able to see skin and I also want to still look like the same person once everything is all off.
If a fan asked you to give them three tips on how to maintain clear, glowy skin, what would you tell them?
I would tell them to always, no matter what, wash your face at the end of the night. Do not go to bed with a dirty face. Also invest in your face; get facials regularly to keep your pores clean. Keep your diet clean, make sure you drink a lot of water, and stay away from sugar. When your body is not clean, it can sometimes show up on your skin. Try looking up Chinese face mapping, it’s a chart that shows you why you might be breaking out on certain areas of your face.
You recently launched your own luxury bedding collection. Tell us more about it.
Yes, I have a bedding line called Malaysia Pargo Bedding. The main focus is comforters, pillows, pillow shams. I really wanted to bring a little glam inside the bedroom, which includes chinchilla, bedazzled bedspread, leather, it’s really exotic, fun and freaky. I use it every night and I love it. If you dress like a million bucks, why not sleep like a million bucks?
