On his quest to reintroduce himself as a more mature artist, Justin Bieber has scored another accomplishment.

The 21-year-old singer covers GQ Magazine for the first time. We’re used to seeing the Biebs in his collection of distressed denim, but he pulls off the “Classic Man” look pretty well, too. In the cover shot, Justin poses in a polka dot shirt and tie while flashing golden rings on his hand.

Inside the issue, Justin finally opens about his love life, which has been the topic of much conversation lately. He’s been spotted getting cozy with Hailey Baldwin in recent months, and it appears their connection may actually be the real thing. Justin described Hailey as, “Someone I really love. We spend a lot of time together.”

And while our assumptions about Justin and Hailey may have been correct, he says people got it all wrong when it came to the meaning behind his hit single “Sorry,” which he asserts is not a public apology for his past behavior:

“People ran with that,” he says. “—that I was like, apologizing with that song and stuff. It really had nothing to do with that . . . It was about a girl.”

Still, he acknowledges the poor decisions that brought him scrutiny and the lessons he learned from it all:

“Everyone when they start growing up realizes, ‘Man, I did some dumb shit when I was younger,’” he says. “It’s not just me . . . If I could go back I wouldn’t really change much. I think it’s all my journey. That stuff made me who I am.”

The full story will be available on GQ.com on February 11.
