Let’s face it; everyone is out here looking for his or her soul mate. Popular shows like The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and MTV’s Are You the One resonate with viewers because of the world’s obsession with finding that ideal romantic partner.

The 2016 hit romantic comedy The Perfect Match, starring Cassie Ventura, Terrence Jenkins, and Lauren London highlights the challenges of finding love in today’s social media-driven dating era.

In the film, Terrence J plays Charlie, a playboy who’s convinced that all his relationships are dead even though his sister, a therapist, tries to tell him otherwise. His best friends bet him that if he sticks to one woman for a month, he’s bound to fall in love. Charlie takes the bet because he believes he’s immune to love — until he meets the beautiful and mysterious Eva, who is played by “Me & U” singer Cassie.

Trying to find your ideal mate this summer? Here are few things to look for in your own perfect match:

Attraction

Your mate should look good — to you. Don’t base your standards on what your family and friends consider to be appealing. This is your love life. Cease it!

Respect

Your partner becomes a reflection of you. He or she should respect your personal boundaries while still catering to your wants, desires, and feelings by treating them equally to their own. Put some #respeck on your own name.

Honesty

No one wants a liar as a family member, friend, or coworker, so why accept it from your partner? The truth will always set you free. Plus, trust removes the temptation to check your boo’s phone.

Shared Morals & Values

It’s easier to get along with someone who sees life the way you do. You don’t have to agree on everything, but if your core values and beliefs are similar, the relationship will be a smoother sail.

Friendship

They say the healthiest relationships started out as friendships. If you have a lot in common and a bunch of fun times before the romance comes into play, you, my friend, may have found the perfect match.
