In hip-hop culture, we love living above our means. But rapper Dee-1 advocates the exact opposite of that.

Following the release of “Sallie Mae Back,” in which Dee-1 raps about how he used his advance money to become free of student loans, the New Orleans emcee announced a partnership with the financial aid student loan company for a nationwide college tour.

Dee-1’s Knowledge For College Tour with Sallie Mae will travel from college to college, teaching students the importance of borrowing responsibly and the various ways they can pay back their loans. To help, Sallie Mae and Dee-1 are gifting one lucky student at each tour stop $5,000!

Followers of Dee-1 know the New Orleans native prides himself on two things: saving his money and his ever-so-loyal ’98 Honda Accord, so it’s no surprise he would dedicate a song to the ride that’s stuck with him through thick and thin.

In the official video for “No Car Note” (Directed by Tommy Talley) Dee-1 and his young co-stars celebrate the extra money they pocketed since they don’t have to worry about annoying car payments.
