When the news isn’t blasting it and it’s not a trending topic on the internet, it can be really easy to forget about the natural disasters that have been affecting people all over the world. Being of Haitian decent, the devastating earthquake in Haiti really hit home for me.

I’ll never forget that when the earthquake in Haiti struck in January, I was preparing to shoot two music videos that weekend for my upcoming singles. As I watched the news before and after the shoot, I cried for days as I watched the horrific images that were plastered all over. I couldn’t understand how so many positive things were happening in my life while thousands were dying just a few miles away from me in Miami.

As soon as I could, I got involved in relief efforts through my school, University of Miami, and various Haiti Relief concerts I performed for. As millions of thoughts raced through my head, like how such a terrible tragedy could be inflicted upon an already devastated country and the incredible work that needs to be done to restore it, one thought stuck out the most.

I wondered, would people still be proactive in helping these people days, months, and years from the earthquake? When the spotlight is taken off and the cameras and film crews go back to their homes, these people are still left in the dark, whether others acknowledge it or not.

Please don’t forget to keep all these people in your prayers and do whatever little you can to help them. Sometimes our busy lives consume us, but the people of Haiti, Chile, China and all those affected recently by these earthquakes REALLY need our continuous prayers and support.

Until next time,
