With all the hoopla about The New Zodiac Sign 2011, we decided to call up the best astrologist we knew, Lawrence Grecco, an astrologist to New York City’s elite with over 20 years experience in the stars. He entered the world of astrology like most of us, with an interest in horoscopes. He began to study the history of astrology and how it effects our lives.

He has known about the change of the new astrological signs for years and informed us “every few years someone comes up with this as if they just discovered this.” He explained to us that great astrologists know that the stars and planets move and stars re-align all the time.

“All of the horoscopes signs are not based on where the constellations appear in the sky right now. They’re based on the spring equinox as the starting point for Aries so they all follow after Aries. So the big controversy is based on a misconception of what the zodiac is based on. In this instance the Zodiac is based on time not space.”

While it might seem like this is a huge revelation to many of us, Grecco assured us that this is no shock to the horoscope world. “My earliest teachers from the 80’s were aware of this, and telling us about this and preparing us for these questions that sometime come up. But western astrology as it’s practiced is not based on literally where the consolations appear in the sky but it’s based on time.”

When we asked him about the new dates of the astrological signs based on the new position of the stars, if the sign change effects everyone, Grecco explained “This new chart is not accurate, it’s like you’re asking me to discuss what it’s like now that New York is it’s own country. Some astronomer who clearly does not believe in astrology or understand astrology is setting out to disprove it by stating some facts which are accurate, the Earth has changed on its axis. However, that’s not what we base the zodiac on. What happening is you can’t prove or disprove a metaphysical science using the methods of a physical science. It would be equally ludicrous if I tried to go about disproving quantum physics using astrology as my frame of reference. It just doesn’t make sense, you can’t prove or disprove faith or God or a love. There are many things we cannot put under a microscope but we experience them and we see how they work.”

Grecco informed us about the stars and how they worked, from compatibility, to the effects of Pluto and much more. We must say, it’s nice to know our signs have stayed the same. Stay tuned to GlobalGrind for more regarding horoscopes and the stars (and yes, those kind of stars).
