And the assholes of the year award goes to….some random band called Day Above Ground!

Talk about an homage gone wrong. A band called Day Above Ground decided to make a song and a video titled “Asian Girlz,” which is allegedly supposed to be flattering to Asian women, but we’re calling bullsh*t.

Obviously, the band knew they might be tip-toeing around the “clearly this is racist” line, so they issued a disclaimer to viewers before watching the video that reads:

“Our song “Asian Girlz” was not written with any malicious, hateful, or hurtful intent. We know it is racy and does push the boundaries further than other songs out there. Understand that we do not promote or support racism or violence. We love everyone no matter what race, religion, or sexual orientation. Please respect our decision to delete any violent, insensitive, or hurtful comment and also one that supports racism. We hope that we can continue with our lives with much love and peace.”

That statement might be understandable, but with stereotypical lyrics like:

Love your sticky rice

Butt fucking all night

Korean barbecue

Bitch I love you

I love your creamy yellow thighs

Ooh you’re slanted eyes

It’s the Year of the Dragon

Ninja pussy I’m stabbin’

There’s levels to this racism sh*t, and Day Above Ground crossed all of them.

Hot 97’s MissInfo reacted to the band’s crummy video by tweeting:

With MissInfo’s response, we’re 99.99999 percent sure that there isn’t an Asian person on the planet that’s going to like this video. Not one.

Check out the video up top, and we warn you now, it’s highly offensive.

Should Day Above Ground take the video down or should they keep it running?
