Bow down and give some fashion credit where it’s due! Mr. Thomas Carlyle Ford has righteously earned a page in the book of “Fashion Icons.”

Born on August 27, 1961 in Austin, Texas to a family of real estate agents, this young country boy had no clue he would be a style legend. Tom recognized his passion for fashion when he moved to New York City in the early ’80s. During this time, he became a regular partygoer at the famous nightclub, Studio 54. “The club’s disco-era glamor would be a major influence on his later designs.”

Soon after, he left on a journey to Paris to work as an intern in Chloé’s press office. His work there was basic and pretty much only involved sending clothes out on photo shoots, but it triggered his love of fashion. “In 1994, the Gucci Group hired Ford as their creative director. In his first year at the helm, he was credited with putting the glamour back into fashion. Between 1995 and 1996, sales at Gucci increased by 90%. On the strength of Ford’s collections. By 1999, the house, which had been almost bankrupt when Ford joined, was valued at about $4.3 billion. When Ford left in 2004, Gucci Group was valued at $10 billion.”

“After leaving Gucci, Ford launched a line of menswear, beauty, eyewear, and accessories in 2006.” Ford considers his creation one for the “modern day gentleman.” His clothing has been worn by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, and he is now considered the “King of the Red Carpet.”

Millionaires and billionaires across the globe sport his exclusive threads to their most important meetings and events, knowing that they will exude style and class. Tom Ford isn’t just a fashion house, he’s a man that has climbed the ladder of success. No wonder he gets so much respect. I’d rock Tom Ford before I pop molly any day!
