After the announcement that Ben Affleck had taken over the role of Batman in the next Man Of Steel, the internet went wild! Fans of the franchise couldn’t wrap their minds around Ben in that kind of suit. Fortunately for him, someone has his back.

Ben’s BFF Matt Damon thinks he’ll “be great” in the role.

“It will be terrific,” Damon says to the Times of India. “I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know he’s not playing King Lear – it’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set.”

“If anybody say Argo or The Town and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting than Batman,” he adds.

Many believed that once Ben signed on for the role, Damon would follow suit and sign on for the role of Robin. Matt laughed off that speculation.

“I’m a little older than Ben,” he says. “I never saw Robin as older than Batman.”

Someone even went as far as to Photoshop Matt’s head on the body of Robin; the actor and father of four says though he was flattered, he won’t be taking the part.

“It was really funny,” he says. “But I won’t be Robin.”

Hold your disappointment; Matt may not want to grace the silver screen with his pal, but there is someone who does!

In an interview with Fresh 102.7’s Jim and Kim Show, Justin Timberlake reflected on his former co-star being cast as Batman.

“Ben Affleck as Batman, I like it,” he says. “I worked with Ben last summer and I’ve seen his process. I think he’s a brilliant filmmaker. I think he’s an extreme talent so he could surprise a lot of people.”

The show’s hosts then shifted focus, asking if Timberlake had ever thought of going after the part of Robin in the film.

“Not a chance in hell,” he says. “I ain’t playin’ Robin. I have no aspiration to ever be a superhero in a movie. Now Villain! I’ll tell you the villain I want to play more than anything because I grew up loving Batman, funny enough, is the Riddler. The Riddler is my favorite Villain.”

“The Riddler was like a sociopath,” he adds. “He was proper crazy. So if I’m gonna play crazy, I wanna play proper crazy.”

“I’m ready,” he says. “The Ridler. Gimme a call.”

Hmm…could JT make a good villain?
