DC Mayor Vincent Gray has confirmed that the shooting at the Navy Yard has resulted in 13 fatalities, including the gunman.

According to NBC, investigators have ruled out two other suspects in the Navy Yard shooting.

NBC has identified the shooter as Aaron Alexis, a 34-year-old from Texas.

He has been identified by his fingerprints. Sources say he was just hired as a civilian contractor before the shooting.

An Aaron Alexis of Ft. Worth Texas (pictured above) was charged with discharging a firearm in 2010. He was 31-years-old at the time, according to police records.

NBC is reporting that seven are dead after the Navy Yard shooting in D.C. this morning.

President Obama delivered brief remarks regarding the shooting at Navy Yard.

” I will do everything to make sure whoever carried out this cowardly act is held responsible,” he said. “Send thoughts and prayers to all at Navy Yard who’ve been touched by this tragedy.”

The president also acknowledged that while authorities don’t “know everything,” yet,  America is “confronting yet another mass shooting.”

During a press conference regarding the Navy Yard shooting, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier reported that there are potentially two other shooters in the area in military apparel, though she cannot confirm.

The potential gunmen have been described as a white male in khaki uniform and a black male with a long gun in olive uniform.

The investigation is still active.

According to the Associated Press, six individuals are now reported dead after the shooting at Navy Yard.

During a press conference at the Washington Hospital Center, it was confirmed that the gunman used a semi-automatic rifle. Three of the gunshot victims from Navy Yard are at the center and are responsive despite their severe injuries.

According to the Washington Post and D.C. Police, authorities are searching for two gunmen.

Police now believe two shooters, including one in fatigues, have killed four people and wounded eight others at the Washington Navy Yard on Monday, throwing the region into fear and chaos during the morning commute.

At least one of the shooters is “down,” police said mid-morning, but it was unclear whether that means the suspect has been arrested or shot. They said the other suspect remains at large, and police believe they have pinned down one between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington.

According to NBC, 12 people have been shot (eight wounded and four dead) and the gunman has been taken down.

NBC is now reporting that 10 have been injured in the shooting at the US Navy Yard in DC. The shooter is now being described as a black male, 5’10’ and 170 pounds. He is wearing a black shirt and a black hat.

Police in D.C. are confirming that the lone gunman barricaded himself after shooting three people this morning at the Navy Yard. According to the Washington Post:

A police spokesman confirmed at 9:20 a.m. that the officer was shot near the room where a lone gunman has barricaded himself after allegedly shooting at least three people on the Navy Yard grounds in Southeast Washington.

At least three of the injured are in critical condition after a morning shooting at the U.S. Navy Yard in D.C.

One of those victims is a D.C. police officer, according to the Washington Post.

A “shelter in place” order has been issued for Navy Yard personnel, authorities said.

Police in Washington D.C. are searching for a gunman who opened fire at the headquarters of the Naval Sea Systems Command in Navy Yard on Monday morning.

The shooting took place at about 8:20 a.m. in one of the Navy Yard buildings in the Southeast area of D.C. Officials are reporting that there is at least one victim, though initial reports showed multiple victims. Approximately 3,000 people work in that building.

The gunman, who is still on the loose, is described as a male with a large shotgun.
