Conservatives in the House had a big win yesterday when they voted to cut nearly $4 billion a year in food stamps, affecting the nation’s main feeding program used by more than 1 in 7 Americans. The bill’s savings would be achieved by allowing states to put broad new work requirements in place for many food stamp recipients and to test applicants for drugs. [CBS]

The PA police chief who posted videos of himself firing automatic weapons, using the term “libtards” and complaining about gun control has been given the boot. Mark Kessler was suspended at a council meeting that drew thousands of his supporters, including some openly armed, to the small town in Schuylkill County in eastern Pennsylvania. A 21-year-old man who attends a special needs transitional program for adults was beaten just moments after he left a GameStop store in Florida to pick up his new copy of Grand Theft Auto V. Rohan Dawkins had been saving money from his job at Home Depot to purchase the game, but when he finally got it, a married couple pulled up, grabbed the game, and kicked and punched him before driving off. Good news? Police arrested the couple. Bad news? They sold Dawkins game and he STILL doesn’t have a new copy. [Gawker]
