Drake is so Drake on Nothing Was the Same, the new album from the Young Money rapper. This statement means he’s emotional and, more importantly, honest.

On the new album, Drake has a song called “From Time.” On the track he talks about a girl named Courtney:

“The one that I needed was Courtney from Hooters on Peachtree. I’ve always been feeling’ like she was the piece to complete me…”

Of course the Internets, being the Internets, got their Sherlock Holmes on and found the real Courtney.

Drake is some kind of guy. He isn’t, however, the first person to blast a real girl on a song.

Scroll down and check out eight rap songs that mention eight real women.

Drake’s “Karaoke” is about Jade Lee

On “Karaoke,” the second song on Drake’s Thank Me Later album, the Toronto-based rapper starts off his verse saying:

“Isn’t it ironic that the girl I want to marry is a wedding planner. And tells me my life is too much and then moves to Atlanta…”

Folks were quickly able to figure out that the verse was dedicated to a young woman named Jade Lee, who is — duh — a wedding planner in Atlanta. Jade last year posted the above-picture on her Instagram with the caption:

“10 Years ago we use to dream about being a rapper and an event planner.”

Nas’ “Daughters” is about Destiny Jones

Legendary rapper Nas has been known to be brutally honest. You can argue that he has never been as brutal or honest as he was on “Daughters,” one of the singles off of Life is Good.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Keisha’s Song” & “Sing About Me” is about a real unnamed woman

The ’90s had Tupac’s “Brenda’s Got A Baby;” the ’00s had Kendrick Lamar’s “Keisha’s Song,” off of his Section.80 tape/album. “Keisha’s Song” tells the tragic story of a prostitute who is killed, and “Sing About Me,” the song’s follow up, is about the discussion K.Dot had with Keisha’s family following the release of the track. Both songs are devastating.

Big Sean’s “Ashley” is about his ex-girlfriend

Big Sean recently split up with his longtime girlfriend, Ashley. Before that, though, he thought the world of the girl, and he wasn’t afraid to show it on “Ashley,” a track on Hall of Fame.

Kid Cudi’s “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie” is about Jamie Baratta

Unfortunately, our boy Kid Cudi broke up with his beautiful model girlfriend Jamie Baratta last year. But before that, the rapper/singer was very much in love, writing this touching, somewhat cheesy, love ballad.

T.I.’s  “That’s the Way You Want it” is about Lashon Dixon

When people think about women in T.I.’s life they think of Tiny, the rapper’s longtime wife. However before Tiny, there were other women, including Lashon Dixon, who TIP has two kids with. A couple of years ago, TIP ripped her on “That’s the Way You Want it.”

Cam’ron’s “Soap Opera” is about Toy Dawkins

“Yo my mommy Toy was my pride and joy.” This is what Cam’ron proclaims on the beginning of Purple Haze standout “Soap Opera.” For non-Cam Stans out there, Toy is the mother of the Harlem-bred rapper’s son.

Joe Budden’s “Dear Angie” is about Joe’s baby mama Angie

Everyone has to start somewhere, right? Joe Budden has blasted many women over the span of his career, from Esther to Tahiry. However the first lady to get it was his baby mama, Angie, a woman who has never been in the spotlight. (She’s a teacher, apparently).
