Passengers arriving and departing in LAX got the scare of their life yesterday as shots were fired in the airport and a TSA agent was killed.

Now more details on the man behind the terror are emerging as he is now identified to be 23 year old, Paul Anthony Ciancia. In more frightening news, according to reports Ciancia also sent suspicious suicidal text messages prior to the shooting that also injured three.

A New Jersey police chief said Friday the suspect had sent a sibling a text message mentioning suicide, leading their father to seek authorities’ help in finding him

Huffington Post reports:

Paul Ciancia’s father called Pennsville Police Chief Allen Cummings early Friday afternoon, saying another of his children had received a text message from the 23-year-old “in reference to him taking his own life,” the chief told The Associated Press.

The father, a owner of an auto-body shop in southern New Jersey, then seeked help from LAPD in locating Paul. They then sent a patrol car to his apartment but it’s unclear if they visited soon before or after the shooting.

The shooter’s father says:

“Basically, there were two roommates there. They said, ‘We saw him yesterday and he was fine.'”

According to the AP:

A law enforcement official, who was briefed at LAX on the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly, said the gunman was wearing fatigues and carrying a bag containing a hand-written note that said he “wanted to kill TSA and pigs.” The official requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Our prayers goes out to all affected by the tragedy.
