Last night, music lovers live streamed the first ever YouTube Awards featuring performances by Lady Gaga, Eminem, M.I.A, Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt and many more.

Although the awards showcased some of music’s biggest names, it lacked sense of direction. Some might have even called the show dysfunctional. The event was unscripted, unrehearsed and just down right thrown together.

But can we really blame them? Remember it was YouTube’s FIRST annual award show. Mistakes and unpredictability are bound to occur. Isn’t that what makes award shows so memorable anyway?

It actually inspired us to take a look back at some of our favorite dysfunctional award show moments from the past few years.

1. Eminem and Bruno’s Ass Incident

During the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, Sacha Baron Cohen made an appearance as his character Bruno. Things got extremely awkward when the comedian soared across audience members and landed ass-to-face on Eminem. Although the rapper seemed genuinely pissed off and even “walked out” of the award show, sources later revealed that Em was actually in on the prank the entire time. Peep the awkward moment below.

2. Kanye Vs. Taylor Swift

Now, we can’t talk about dysfunctional award show moments without mentioning the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, aka the best awards show to-date.

From Kanye’s Taylor Swift interruption to Lil Mama’s stage crash during Jay Z and Alicia Keys’ “NY State Of Mind” performance, there were few things that didn’t go wrong that fateful night. Relive the moments below.

3. Lil Mama Vs Beyonce, Jay Z & Alicia Keys

Not even Beyonce could have stopped Lil Mama from getting on that stage.

4. Suge Knight Calls Out Diddy

We all remember the major shade Suge Knight threw at Diddy during the 1995 Source Awards, right? The diss heard round the hip-hop world was highly unexpected, but shockingly juicy. It’s still a memorable moment in hip-hop culture today. Watch the heated moment below.

5. A$AP Rocky & Jason Collins’ Awkward VMAs Moment

When A$AP Rocky was paired up with Jason Collins to introduce Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love” performance at the VMAs earlier this year, things got a tad bit awkward. It seems like Rocky suddenly felt really uncomfortable standing next to Collins – an openly gay NBA player. He couldn’t contain his composure, making weird faces and all. Take a look for yourself underneath.

6. Miguel Drop-Kicks Fan

Let my foot “Adorn” you.

My oh my, R&B singer Miguel injured not one but two females during his “Adorn” performance at the 2013 Billboard Awards when he attempted to jump over a large crowd. Unfortunately, his stunt was unsuccessful and sources later revealed that producers warned Miguel not to go through with the jump. Thankfully, no one got seriously hurt. Relive the cringe-worthy moment below.
