In the midst of George Zimmerman’s legal woes, estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman appeared on the Katie show to talk about the wonderful person she once knew.

In her interview with Katie Couric, which came just three days after authorities arrested Zimmerman for allegedly pointing a shotgun in his girlfriend’s face, Shellie said it seems like Zimmerman is “acting like a monster.”

“I hope that there’s no violence, but he does seem like a ticking time bomb,” said of her husband, who was acquitted in the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin. “I know I’m certainly afraid. I just hope that he can get, maybe, the help that he needs to deal with his situation, and the no one else will be hurt.”

Shellie, who served Zimmerman with divorce papers on Tuesday, also mentioned that “something has snapped” in Zimmerman’s spirit since she last saw him months ago.

But the interview wasn’t a Zimmerman bashing session. His soon-to-be ex-wife also told Couric why she married the former neighborhood watch volunteer.

“We were great friends and I thought he was a wonderful person — that’s why I married him,” she said Thursday on “Katie.”

My, how things change. Watch the video above to see what else Mrs. Zimmerman had to say about her estranged husband.
