When it comes to animals, Simone Reyes is a down ass chick.

The animal rights activist was among 19 arrested during the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade on Wednesday in connection with a protest of the Sea World float.

Wearing a t-shirt with the words “SeaWorld Hurts Orcas” scrawled across the front, Reyes and the group of activists vocalized their dissent for the amusement corporation and their treatment of the whales, which can be watched in detail on the documentary BlackFish.

“They attempted to stand and stomp in front of the float to delay its progress,” Lt. Terysa Rojas of the Pasadena Police Department told KTLA 5.

Reyes and the others were booked for a Pasadena municipal violation of “interfering with special events,” a charge that is considered a misdemeanor.

She posted her mugshot on Instagram after the debacle:

Good friend Russell Simmons tweeted his support for the activist:

But get this. That same day a group of protestors rallied against a same-sex marriage float. However, no arrests were made in that group.

Go figure….

In any case, we applaud Reyes and the PETA activists for taking a stand against the deplorable actions of SeaWorld.
