Two car accidents seemingly happening at the same time in Florida and California have taken the lives of 11 people.

According to CNN, both accidents happened on the highway — in Tampa a Hyundai heading north on a southbound highway caused a massive collision, and in Diamond Bar, Calif., a Chevrolet Camaro followed the same lead. The accidents both occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police have confirmed the driver in California was intoxicated, however, they aren’t sure of the driver in Tampa.

Five people died in a crash on Interstate 275 in Tampa when a Ford Expedition, traveling south in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with a Hyundai, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins with the Florida Highway Patrol.

KABC, a CNN affiliate, reported that the first driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter. Cassidy said the driver was hospitalized in critical condition.

Two people died at the hospital and four on the scene in California. In both accidents, the casualties range in age from 20 to 47-years-old. Both cars were traveling at over 100 miles per hour.

We send condolences to the families of all the victims in these tragic accidents.
