A 3-year-old Filipino girl, who was pronounced clinically dead, woke up at her funeral service at a church in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

According to The Phillippine Star, Police Senior Inspector Heidil Teelan confirmed the incident, citing reports from the personnel he dispatched to verify the case at Barangay Bayabas. A video of the sleeping toddler has since gone viral.

The video apparently shows the girl being prepared for her funeral. Moments later, the girl started breathing and was removed from her coffin by her father.

According to reports, she had experienced a severe fever for several days.

“During that time, the attending clinic personnel and physician confirmed that the young patient had no more pulse and was clinically dead last Saturday morning about 9 a.m.,” Teelan told The Phillippine Star.

The family started to prepare her for her funeral service. The family then went to the church where a priest administered the last sacrament. Based on reports, a mourner who removed the cover of the coffin observed the girl’s head move.

“This prompted them to check and confirmed the girl had pulse and was alive,” Teelan said.

The child was immediately given water and taken to a clinic for a check-up. According to Teelan, the police “cannot make confirmation on the status” of the girl, but believe she remains “in a state of comatose” at the house.
