Anne Hathaway—she’s the girl Hollywood loves to hate, and she knows it, too. There was that one time when her speech at the Golden Globes didn’t go over too well, and let’s not forget about “dressgate.”

But in an upcoming issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the 31-year-old actress is hoping to turn over a new leaf. On the cover (her second one this month, by the way), there’s nothing not to love about Anne, as she blows kisses in a gorgeous Giorgio Armani Privé gown.

Speaking of a fancy frock, remember that pretty pink Prada one she wore to the Oscars back in 2013 that ruffled everyone’s feathers? She opened up about the Valentino one she was supposed to wear instead, until she found out Amanda Seyfried was wearing one just like it:

“[It was] a lilac version of my dress. Two completely different designers.” At 10 o’clock the night before the Oscars, “I didn’t have a friggin’ dress, which I normally wouldn’t care about …” Long pause. “But I really needed a dress, and everybody hates me, and I just really needed a dress.”

And about that speech?

“What are we supposed to do—pretend like it didn’t happen? People treated me a certain way,” she says. “But I’ve grown from it. This whole thing has made me a way more compassionate and loving person. And I don’t feel sorry for myself.”

“Punched in the gut.” That’s how Anne felt after seeing headlines addressing how hated she had become:

“Shocked and slapped and embarrassed. Even now I can feel the shame. Now I’d be fine. I really would be. I’d let it roll off my back, but at the time I was still partly Fantine. I was still identifying with being a victim.”

Today, though, Anne’s got a few movies in the works, and she seems to be doing (and looking) better than ever. Especially in this Balmain number.
