In 2014, we saw a lot of main characters on our favorite shows kick the bucket. This is dedicated to everyone we lost.
So consider yourself warned, this post contains spoilers.
Whether you’re a fan of Scandal who tunes in to see which one of Olivia’s friends will betray her, or a fan of Game Of Thrones who knows any of your favorite characters could get the axe at any moment, shocking character deaths are the thing right now.
No one is safe.
So with that said, we take a look back at 2014’s most heartbreaking and shocking deaths on television. Check it out.
James Novak – Scandal
We have to admit: we really didn’t see this one coming. James’ death left us all a bit teary-eyed, but we got even more emotional after seeing Cyrus, James’ husband, break down during the press conference announcement.
Harrison – Scandal
Columbus Short did it to himself, but Harrison being put into a box only to never be seen again? It still hurt.
Beth – The Walking Dead
Considering they spent the whole first half of the season trying to save her, why would they kill her off? Great way to keep the fans guessing, but Darryl really needs a hug.
Bob – The Walking Dead
The “Bob-B-Que” was pure insanity. This might be one of the best ways to die, though; imagine being knocked out, only to wake up to a group of cannibals eating your leg, but you’ve already been bitten by a zombie, so the joke’s on them.
Jax Teller – Sons of Anarchy
Jax went out on his own terms: hands out to the side, face on to a truck. Tellers “die bloody,” so most fans saw it coming, but it was still tough to watch.
William Gardner – The Good Wife
The death of a main character is always hard, but this one was so good, People wrote, “Lawyer Will Gardner (Josh Charles) was killed in a courtroom shoot-out in one of the most jolting twists ever – a jaw-dropper in an age when shocking twists are becoming routine as meals.”
King Joffrey – Game of Thrones
Many people didn’t think GOT could top the Red Wedding, but they did with the Purple Wedding. The death of King Joffrey was so great it sparked a ton of social media mentions, but the scene where Joff was choking? The best of the year.
Tywin Lannister – Game of Thrones
Poppa Lannister, the most powerful man in the Seven Kingdoms, died on the crapper at the hands of his own dwarf son. The crapper!
Zoe Barnes – House of Cards
There were a lot of deaths on Season 2, but none more shocking than Zoe Barnes. It was Valentine’s Day and instead of flowers and roses, she got a face full of train.
Nucky Thompson – Boardwalk Empire
Just when he’d gotten out of the business, his past came back to haunt him. The late Jimmy’s son shot Nucky on the boardwalk, and we can’t say he didn’t deserve it.
Nelson Van Alden – Boardwalk Empire
He had all he could stand and he couldn’t stand anymore. After being almost killed by all the mobsters on the show, the cop-turned-gangster himself got a bullet in the head from another police officer. Irony.
